SAP Tools: Three Whales of SAP S4/HANA Migration Planning

On July 9, AGELESS held a webinar “Roadmap of Tools for Planning Migration to SAP S/4HANA”. During the event, Oleg Ustimenko, SAP Solutions Architect of AGELESS company, together with 70 participants discussed in detail the actual topics of migration planning.

In previous webinars, AGELESS experts talked about migration to SAP S/4HANA: the landscape and features of the new system, scenarios for migration to the new ERP and selection criteria, the functional benefits of migration, and important points to consider when preparing a project.

At the webinar, which held on July 9, participants talked about tools that help assess the readiness of the current system to migration. How to plan the preparation process and, in fact, migration to SAP S/4HANA.

The main topics:

  • Roadmap of tools for migration to SAP S/4HANA.
  • SAP Business Scenario Recommendations overview.
  • SAP Readiness Check overview.
  • Overview and demo of SAP Transformation Navigator.

During the webinar, the tools related to the initial assessment and action planning for migration to SAP S/4HANA were discussed in detail.

Careful and preliminary preparation for migration to SAP S4/HANA is the basis for the successful implementation of a new ERP or conversion of a system that is already operational and in need of modernization. In any case, the company must have a clear vision and rely on sound statistics and analytical data.

In particular, it allows you to assess the scale of tasks, works, and benefits that the customer receives after the implementation of SAP S4/HANA.

The best solution is to develop a roadmap of tools that will be needed for the migration. During this work, we will benefit from special SAP tools. First of all, the obtained data give an understanding of the current situation, from which positions we start and what we want to achieve in the end; what are our capabilities”, – Oleh Ustymenko said.

AGELESS’s SAP Solutions Architect noticed that companies usually plan to work on an annual budget. Therefore, in order to start work next year, it is necessary to plan the project now, evaluate it, determine priority areas and needs.

“The tools we offer are independent of the start of the project. They do not require large implementation costs and are quite easy to implement. However, give an understanding of the complexity or ease of conversion of the system. We accent this scenario because with the introduction of the new SAP S4 / HANA the system is being rebuilt”– Ustymenko said.

The main tools for determining the migration scenario are SAP Business Scenario Recommendations and SAP Readiness Check.

“They are quite similar in functionality, but Business Scenario Recommendations allows you to compare the functionality, processes that were embedded in the old ERP, with those that are implemented in the new SAP S4/HANA. Based on the obtained data, experts draw conclusions about the compatibility of systems and conversion” Oleh Ustymenko explained.

The next helper – SAP Readiness Check – is a similar product with similar functionality. “This tool analyzes business processes in terms of technical aspects, compares the technical components of the two systems, and on the basis of current use allows you to analyze the probability of conversion of current elements to the target SAP S4/HANA system”, said Oleg Ustimenko.

The AGELESS expert also advises using SAP Transformation Navigator. This tool allows you to predict the future IT landscape.
